SD Entrepreneur Profiles: Tatum Lenahan of Love Tatum

A clear standout at Nubry.com’s Fall Sparkle & Sip Pop-Up Shop last Wednesday was LoveTatum: an alluring array of natural gemstone and crystal jewelry. San Diego’s Appreciation of Women in Business showed our support for five talented local designers and stylists by attending this pop up shop, also a fundraising endeavor for local charity.

“My mom was like, ‘Tatum! You’re just giving away your pieces!’ but I felt like I was an artist, so I was like, it’s okay. PEOPLE ARE WEARING MY ITEMS.”

Tatum Lenahan, the mastermind behind Love Tatum, got her start selling stretchy-string and glass bead bracelets through her eBay store “SweetLoveTatum2” at the age of 10. As a child, Lenahan was more interested in the satisfaction of her artistic heart, than profiting from her pieces. Explains Lenahan of her mom’s concern about her eBay prices: “A dollar fifty! Not even covering the cost of goods.” Clearly she’s picked up some business savvy since 1995. Love Tatum evolved, eventually overtaking Lenahan’s talent and career in the culinary field. Tatum Lenahan landed a coveted Bloomingdale’s account, with Love Tatum also being showcased in bi-annual window features on New York’s Fifth Avenue. Love Tatum’s reach was broadened by a nationwide Bloomingdale’s Trunk Show tour, as well as collaborations with Henri Bendel.

Tatum’s mission presently is to garner attention in her own backyard: San Diego. In the past, Tatum has traveled extensively to New York. Now Lenahan is focused on establishing LoveTatum locally with pop-up shops like the one Nubry.com hosted last Wednesday. If you missed it, don’t worry! Love Tatum will be debuting at The Headquarters launch party November 18, right in front of the Seaport Village. http://www.theheadquarters.com/

With Love Tatum’s fall supertrends like bold black and gold, wrap bracelets, and a rainbow of natural gemstones including Drusy, crystal, labrodorite, and black garnet, these pieces make unique and gorgeous gifts. (If anyone’s Xmas shopping, XMH will take a blue drusy, thanks!)
